Not Just Age but Age and Quality of Information

A versatile scheduling problem to model a three-way tradeoff between age of information (AoI), quality/distortion, and energy is considered. The considered called the quality (AQI) select which packets transmit at each time slot minimize linear combination utility driven by quality, AoI, transmission cost in an online fashion. AQI combines tradeoffs from some important distinct problems, such as AoI with multiple sources, remote sampling constraint, classical speed scaling among others. arbitrary/adversarial case input setting, where performance metric competitive ratio. greedy algorithm proposed that shown be 2-competitive, independent all parameters problem. For special problem, maximum weight matching based also 2-competitive.
